Gerphil Geraldine Flores, a 24-year-old singer is one of the four Filipinos who advanced into the Grand Finals of Asia’s Got Talent after impressing again the judges.

Many years ago, she auditioned as Fame Flores in Pilipinas Got Talent. During semi-finals, she was set against Sherwin. Being a church choir singer, she sang a classic song in which she was criticized by one of the judges (Kris Aquino) who said that she should choose a song that is suitable for her age if she wants to be known.

She cried after losing at that time but she also promised that whatever happens, she will still sing a classic song.

True to her words, she sang The Godfather theme “Speak Softly, Love” originally sung by Andy Williams for her audition in Asia’s Got Talents and got a standing ovation from everyone.

"You did not disappoint anybody in this room. It was really a solid performance. Your pitch is great, and I hate people who sing out of tune. You sang really in tune. Good going!" said David Foster, who mentored and helped Charice Pempengco in her international career.

He was amazed by her performance which made him pressed the “Golden Buzzer” that automatically advances Gerphil to the semi-finals. The same scenario happened during semi-finals as she wowed everyone by singing “Love Story”, another song of Andy Williams. Everyone witnessed as Gerphil transformed from a shy girl to a confident woman since her first appearance in AGT.

During Grand Finals, Gerphil didn’t think twice in showing her talent confidently as she performed her own rendition of Frank Sinatra classic “Impossible Dream” wholeheartedly in a beautiful golden gown. She seems to be an angel sent from above capturing the hearts of everyone as she sang the lyrics with her angelic voice.

The four judges were again fascinated by the stunning performance of the young Filipina singer.

David Foster, who hates singers who sing out of tune, was quite emotional after Gerphil’s performance. He said, “My golden girl, tonight, the song was called “The Impossible Dream”. You just made the dream possible. You absolutely killed it.”

David believes that she is born a star and promised her that she will become one. He said, “I promise you. I promise you, the world is gonna know about you. That’s a promise.”

Sporty Spice of Spice Girls, Melanie C commented, “You belong up there on the pedestal. You were magnificient.”

Vanness Wu said, “When we first saw you, you were this shy little girl and you commanded the stage tonight. You literally took over and just said ‘Everybody look at me. Look at what I can do’ Great Job!”

Indonesian rock icon Anggun said, “That performance is exactly we expected from you. That high note, it was amazing. It was amazing and you shined up there. You were already a beautiful girl but tonight, you’re magnificient.”

Their comments helped Gerphil boost her confidence more. She thanked the people who supported her including the judges.

Some Filipino singers like Lea Salonga showed her support by tweeting, “Dear Gerphil Flores, whatever happens at AGT, know that you are incredibly talented with a voice that could've only come from the heavens.” and “Now is your time, Gerphil. Run with it!!!”

Along with Lea, Regine Velasquez posted a photo on Instagram as she called out to her followers asking them to vote for the aspiring Filipina singer.

The other Filipino participants that reached Grand Finals are 12 year-old singer Gwyneth Dorado, shadow play dancers El Gamma Penumbra and hip-hop crew Junior New System.
