Everyone has waited for Angel Locsin’s role as ‘Darna’ on the big screen ever since ABS-CBN approached her with the opportunity of being everyone’s favorite heroine. The news made Angel extremely excited and she started training for the role soon after in the well-known art of Muay Thai.
Although the public has been giving Angel support since then, ABS-CBN and Star Cinema has now announced a change of plans that Angel will actually be unable to take part in the new ‘Darna’ movie. Leaving the public heartbroken, Angel has revealed the reason why which has resulted in a disc bulge in her spine caused by her training for the movie. In the end, management has decided that the best thing they can do for both the movie and for Angel is to put her health in priority and allow her to undergo treatment and therapy needed for her spine.
Angel has shared the beginning of her story, "May isang araw po na gumising na lang ako, hindi na po ako makatayo, ni gapang, ni hatak sa sarili hindi ko magawa."
Currently she is still undergoing treatment but has revealed that she may go abroad in order to have surgery.
Supportive boyfriend, Luiz Manzano shares Angel Locsin’s choices and his gratitude to her fans.
In an interview with ABS-CBN, Angel’s boyfriend, Luiz Manzano has showed his optimism for her full recovery very soon.
"I think mayroon siyang two options na kino-consider. May isa na medyo mas matimbang, so hopefully soon magawa na niya," Luiz shared.
"Basta makapagpa-treatment kung sakaling magawa niya 'yung nakaplanong whether 'yung surgery, basta magawa 'yon at maayos 'yung therapy after, she can be 100% again," Luiz started. "With technology now, sa science ngayon, parang ang bilis (maka-recover). 'Yung last case na nakita after one or two weeks parang medyo okay na. Pero of course she still have to undergo therapy. Hindi pwedeng afternoon eh lahat ay gagawin mo. Siyempre kailangan may kaunting ingat pa din before you're 100%.”
As for the fans of both ‘Darna’ and Angel Locsin, Luiz can’t thank the fans enough for all the support they have given his girlfriend.
"Nakita ko nga may mga Instagram pa na Darna will wait for Angel Locsin. Nakaka-touch kasi siyempre ibig sabihin there's no one better for that role," he said with the emphasis that these people aren’t only Angel’s “hardcore’ fans but the public in general.
"Kahit 'yung regular na tao who follows showbiz talagang sinasabi nila na iba 'yung naging tatak ni Angel as Darna. So thank you. I guess on behalf of Angel maraming salamat doon sa nagsasabing kung kayang antayin, antayin sana," Luiz ended.
As for the ‘Darna’ movie, Luiz also shared some hope for the role to still belong to Angel as the interviewers asked for a possibility that the movie can wait until Angel’s full recovery.
"Sana. Siguro not just dahil sa clamor ng tao but kahit ang management ay nakikita na 'Oo nga ano baka naman kaya pa ngang hintayin si Angel.' So sana."
